Lexipol’s Clinician Training and Certification FAQs
What is the Lexipol Clinician Training and Certification Program?
Lexipol’s Clinician Training and Certification Program equips licensed mental health professionals to effectively support public safety personnel through specialized, culturally competent training. Members can earn the nationally recognized ERPSCC designation, access CE-eligible courses, participate in expert-led webinars, and receive practical tools and resources—all grounded in evidence-based, trauma-informed care.
What is the ERPSCC?
ERPSCC stands for Emergency Responder and Public Safety Certified Clinician. It’s a designation awarded to clinicians who complete Lexipol’s Clinician Certification. The ERPSCC demonstrates your expertise in culturally competent, trauma-informed care for public safety personnel.
Do I have to get certification or can I just take courses?
You do not have to get certified. Many clinicians join the membership to access the public safety specific CEs, downloadable resources, and attend members only webinars. However, if you are not certified, you cannot be listed in our National Clinician Directory within Lexipol’s Wellness App.

Course Taking
How do I get started taking courses for the Clinician Certification?
When you log in, you will either be taken directly to the Clinician Certification Program page or the list of the different programs available to you. Once you navigate to the program page, click “Enroll” and you can then start taking courses.
Do I need to take Clinician Certification courses in a specific order?
No, the courses do not need to be taken in the recommended order. However, to earn ERPSCC certification, you must complete the full core curriculum and meet all related requirements before certification is granted.
How long do I have to complete the certification coursework?
Clinicians are encouraged to complete all coursework within 3–4 months of beginning the program. This timeline helps support successful preparation for the final exam and ensures continuity in learning. However, you’ll retain access to the content and resources as long as your membership remains active.
When I complete a Clinician Course, will I get a certificate?
Yes. You will receive an email with a link to a course completion certificate. You may also view all of your certificates under My Dashboard -> Certificates.
Experiential Requirement
What type of Experiential qualifies?
To meet the ERPSCC certification requirement, experiential hours must involve direct interaction with public safety personnel—such as law enforcement, fire, EMS, corrections, or military. Qualifying experiences include ride-alongs, sit-alongs, or providing clinical or training services to public safety agencies. These experiences should offer firsthand exposure to the culture and operational environment of emergency responders.
To be eligible, experiences must:
- Be completed within the last 5 years
- Involve meaningful, professional interaction (not observational only)
- Be verifiable (e.g., confirmation from the agency or official documentation)
What if I’m already experienced? Do I still need to complete all the certification requirements?
Yes. While we recognize and value your existing experience, all clinicians seeking ERPSCC certification must complete the required coursework and meet all certification standards to ensure consistency, credibility, and alignment with national best practices.
However, if you’ve already completed relevant experiential activities (e.g., ride-alongs, direct clinical work with public safety personnel), you may be eligible to request a waiver for the experiential hours. Waivers are reviewed on a case-by-case basis. You’ll find the waiver request form and instructions within the learning platform.
Letters of Recommendation
What are the requirements for my letters of recommendation?
You must submit two letters of recommendation from individuals familiar with your professional work—ideally agency leaders, supervisors, or colleagues who can speak to your experience or potential working with public safety personnel.
Each letter should include:
- The author’s name, title, and contact information
- A clear statement of support for your participation in the ERPSCC Program
- Insights into your professional strengths, particularly your ability to work with high-stress populations
- Any known experience you have with emergency responders or public safety settings
National Clinician Directory
When will I be listed in the National Clinician Directory?
Once you have completed all ERPSCC certification requirements and your membership is active, you will be eligible to be listed in the National Clinician Directory within Lexipol’s Wellness App. Listing is limited to clinicians licensed in states where the directory is currently available.
Can I opt out of the directory if I’m not accepting new clients?
Yes. You can manage your directory listing at any time directly through your student dashboard. If you’re not currently accepting new clients or prefer not to be listed, simply use the opt-in/out feature to update your visibility.
CEs
Are CE credits available through this program?
Yes. There are 35 + CE hours available in the ERPSCC core curriculum and a library of additional CE eligible courses in the advanced courses for members only.

It includes access to certification, advanced training, SME-led webinars, and a toolkit of clinical resources—all designed to support your development as a culturally competent provider for public safety personnel. These benefits are exclusive to active members and are not available for individual course purchase.
Can multiple users share one membership account?
No. Memberships are intended for individual use only. If you’re part of an organization, each user must be registered separately and managed by the account administrator.
